Label Personnel Conference Meeting

As a part of the label’s organisational activities, a conference meeting had been arranged including current department heads and personnel. Taking place on May 20th between 12pm-2pm, the meetings format consisted of a plan to address :

-  Emphasis on being The Campus Label : being student-run, and open to and interested students for production / business roles.

-  Department roles outline and organising : audio production team, film production team, business and marketing team.

-  AnR : bring artists and bands in for production projects - both external & internal [to the campus].

-  Artist submissions form distribution for onboarding.

-  Publishing options for production & release projects.

-  Additional opportunities in events management, in-the-box studio experience.

Initial conversation went well, focusing around introductory ice-breaking between those present - with the meeting format aimed at being more conversational this was a good way to begin the discussion. Topics across the above points were all touched on and conveyed, with discourse furthering the contextualisation and actualisation.

Conversation going into the second half of the conference moved over to focus more so on business aspects relating to the label. As with the brief for this meeting, we’d called out to music business student’s who would possibly be interested - to gain more expertise in those areas of operations. With topics of conversation on funding, contractual arrangements, and cashflow - it was made apparent that we’d benefit from personnel in these dedicated roles.

Following the meeting, some notes of consideration going forward were compiled -

-  Departmental team organisation - specifically music business - should be coordinated and taken to the stage of implementation. Onboarding personnel and furthering conversations with those present to identify areas of development and plan specific organisational progression.

-  Wider explicit call to internal [to the Campus] artists - emphasising the accessibility of the Label’s services across production and publishing to those interested. Being based internally, these artists would benefit from nil rates on services / label publishing & marketing.

-  Wide cast email sent out for regular video conference calls including label management team. Aimed to ensure communications are accessible, with information able to be directed more effectively.

-  Artist forms / available modular services could be published through social media to present outwardly to external artists / potential clients - for additional increase in onboarding stream.

-  Further departmental organisation meetings, focussing specifically on each department and their roles / responsibilities.

-  Business plan / model / strategy should be ironed in and established.

-  Meet with personnel for personal project artists / projects on campus.

-  Inquire into contingency on service feeds for float pool financing.
